Edna Jenks Hedin, NCTM (1924–2019), was a prominent piano and organ teacher, church musician, and educator whose legacy continues to inspire the New Mexico music community. As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, she dedicated her life to pedagogical excellence.
Edna earned a degree in Piano Performance from Oklahoma Baptist University and maintained private studios in every community she lived in. She served the public school system in Artesia for 30 years and later taught piano and served as the Chapel Organist for the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) in Roswell for 16 years. Her lifetime of dedication to her students, her church, and the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico (PMTNM) leaves a lasting mark on the profession.
